Hands up, I’ll confess I’m really late with this. It took a random marketing email yesterday from Vimeo to bring it to my attention and I thought I’d blog about it just in case anyone else was similarly unaware of the existence of Vimeo Video School.
So, what is it? It’s a series of very well put together free training videos created by the Vimeo Video School, although the ‘premium video school lessons’ are only free to Vimeo Plus and Pro members.
The videos cover a wide range of shooting and editing techniques, and include a crash course in how to video edit using Adobe Premiere, how to shoot decent clips on your smartphone, and a little more gimmicky stuff such as how to create ‘spooky’ effects for Halloween videos, that kind of thing.
The ever-ubiquitous Philip Bloom pops up in a series of films explaining how to shoot with a DSLR and there are also ‘weekend challenges’ with prizes of a free year of Vimeo Plus memberships.
