ITV has ordered two drama series from Trauma producer Tall Story Pictures,  a second series of Bancroft, starring Sarah Parish, and new show The Bay written by Daragh Carville.

ITV’s Head of Drama Polly Hill commissioned both series from the ITV Studios-owned production company.

The Bay, executive produced by Catherine Oldfield, is set in the coastal town of Morecambe Bay and centres on Detective Sergeant Lisa Armstrong investigating a missing persons case.

Executive Producer Catherine Oldfield said: “Daragh has written a fantastic contemporary crime story with a flawed but entirely relatable heroine at its heart. We are delighted to be bringing Daragh’s writing to the screen for ITV.”

ITV’s Head of Drama Polly Hill said: “It’s always a challenge to find a fresh take on crime, but Daragh Carville has written a very real crime story about family and community, which is distinctive, compelling and beautifully crafted.”

Filming will begin in Morecambe and the surrounding area in the summer of 2018.

Bancroft, starring Sarah Parish, sees Ruthless DCI Elizabeth Bancroft returning to ITV with a new four-parter, created and written by Kate Brooke (Mr Selfridge, Ice Cream Girls, The Making of a Lady). Bancroft II will be executive produced by Kate alongside Catherine Oldfield, Creative Director and Executive Producer of Tall Story Pictures (Trauma, Tutankhamun, Home Fires).

Filmed on location in and around Bolton and the North West of England, Bancroft will go into production later this year.

ITVS GE will be responsible for the international distribution of both shows.
