When I joined Sky Production Services (SPS) 8 years ago, writes Adam Downey, Director of Post Production, the brief was simple: diversify the output of a facility, with a strong track record in delivering Sports programming, into a one that can incorporate the breadth of content that Sky makes.

As we stand today, we work with great production companies covering a wide slate of content, covering Scripted Comedy & Drama (Hitmen Reloaded, Urban Myths), Documentaries (Hotspots, 8 Minutes And 46 Seconds), Entertainment (Life & Rhymes, A League of Their Own, Portrait Artist of the Year) and still the plethora of internal Sport projects that makes the hairs on the back of my arm lift before the big event.

The cornerstone to achieving this goal is great planning and our Post Producers are some of the very best in the industry and our supervisors and coordinators truly care about the experience you get here at Sky.

Furthermore, our passionate team of dedicated engineers, operators, and craftspeople deliver 100,000 hours of editing each year and take considerable pride in their individual contribution. A large proportion of the post team has been trained right here at Sky and we are committed to keep nurturing our own talent. In return we have a stable, engaged, and well-trained team delivering some of the most watched and best loved television in the country.

For our entertainment and scripted work, we have always worked to the production company, not Sky, and several of them have returned for non-Sky commissioned shows to work with our team, which we deliver with the same attention to detail and work ethic. Our focus is always on the project.

We treat every job, no matter its budget or complexity, with the same care and attention. Our job is simple, to not over complicate so that the production is not distracted with what can go wrong but free to realise their vision. It is this that allows us to offer a boutique experience within a much larger enterprise. And that enterprise also carries benefits.

Sky has an industry-wide reputation as an innovator and early adopter. Our post team get to experiment with all the new formats and delivery specifications- like UHD, HDR and Dolby Atmos HE – before they become a working reality. So, when the demand follows, we’re well ahead of the curve and able to demystify and assist all our productions.

On top of that, we have the capacity to take on the biggest productions with 70 suites and 50 remote seats, and we are one of the most sustainable facilities in the world. I am incredibly proud to be working for a company that has a history, and more importantly a strong plan to help address climate change. Our facilities are fully Albert certified, with plans every day, week, and year to take this even further with the aim of being carbon zero by 2030.

The Sky campus is phenomenal; lovely outdoor spaces, fantastic good-value food in our many eating cafes and restaurants, a state-of-the-art gym, a hair salon, nail bar, an on-site mini Waitrose, plenty of car parking and even a car wash. You can have everything you need in one place less than 40 minutes from Central London and within easy reach of the Piccadilly, Central and District Lines and just off the M4.

Combining the experience of working at a boutique post house with the support and scale of the Sky enterprise, SPS is the ideal place to deliver any content big or small.
