Plimsoll Productions, (part of ITV Studios), has appointed executive producer Paul Wright to develop live programming across all genres including adventure, factual entertainment, and natural history.

Wright comes on board directly from Skyscraper Live with Alex Honnold, Plimsoll’s Netflix live event in which free solo climbing legend Alex Honnold scaled one of the world’s tallest skyscrapers before a global audience. The event premiered at No. 3 on Netflix’s Global Top 10, holding that position for two weeks across 74 countries and earning nearly one billion global impressions.

Wright has built a reputation as one of the leading live entertainment experts in the industry, with a wide array of live content on both sides of the Atlantic. Some of his many credits include Bigheads (ITV1), The Million Pound Cube(ITV1), Sounds Like Friday Night (BBC1),Pride of Britain (ITV1), Comic Relief’s Big Chat with Graham Norton (BBC3), US Sing On! with Titus Burgess (Netflix), US Lingo with RuPaul (CBS) and the Laureus World Sport Awards (Sky/NBC). He also produced Comedy Map of Britain (BBC) and several FIFA World Cups, the Athens Olympics and Match of the Day (all BBC1).

“Live television is where I live and breathe, and Skyscraper Live showed me that Plimsoll is the perfect home for that ambition,” says Wright. “The talent here is extraordinary and the canvas is as wide as it gets.”

“Skyscraper Live was the most demanding live production we’ve ever made, and Paul rose to every challenge it presented,” says James Smith, Head of Adventure & Live at Plimsoll Productions. “As we continue to invest creatively across our live slate, Paul’s range across genres, editorial judgment and ability to perform under real-time pressure make him exactly the right person for this moment.”

Plimsoll recently landed six Emmy Awards for A Real Bug’s Life (Disney+/National Geographic), with recent cross-genre programming including Nightmares of Nature (Netflix), produced in partnership with Blumhouse Television, Are You My First? (Hulu) and Shark! Celebrity Infested Waters (ITV).
