Zinc Media Group has hired former Uplands and BBC Studios production head Nick Todd as Zinc Television’s Head of Production.

At Zinc Television, Todd will be responsible for overseeing operations and productions – both long-running series as well as new commissions – across the company’s TV labels based in London and Manchester, working alongside Managing Director Tanya Shaw.

He comes to Zinc from Uplands Television, where he was Head of Production and managed a portfolio of productions. Prior to Uplands, Todd was Head of Production for BBC Studios Factual Entertainment & Events, where he was responsible for all productions and operations in the unit.

Todd will manage productions and operations across Zinc’s London- and Manchester-based TV labels including: Brook Lapping, Rex, Supercollider and Red Sauce.  Todd will also work with new labels as Zinc Television expands into new factual genres in the next phase of its growth. He will report to Zinc Television’s Managing Director, Tanya Shaw, and takes up his role immediately.

Tanya Shaw, Managing Director, Zinc Television, says: “Not only is Nick an inspirational production leader, he is incredibly well-respected right across the industry. His extensive experience of leading large-scale production units is perfectly complemented by his collaborative and supportive approach.  That’s why he is perfectly placed to lead our London and Manchester labels as we look to further expand our specialist factual footprint. We are very excited to have him on board.”

Nick Todd adds: “I’m delighted to be joining Zinc Television as it embarks upon its next phase of growth across the London and Manchester TV bases. The breadth of output and the mix of labels is outstanding, and the content is all defined by quality, creativity and ambition. I’m looking forward to working with Tanya and the brilliant team to realise the vision for the business through 2023 and beyond.”
