Karen Knowles has joined Whisper Films as Head of Production and former head of production, Juli Porter, moves to the position of chief operating officer.
Knowles joins from Ricochet and has over 20-years experience in the industry from the BBC, BBC Entertainment and the independent TV sector.
In her new role, Knowles will be managing the production department for Whisper Films founded in 2010 by Sunil Patel, Jake Humphrey and David Coulthard.
She takes over as Head of Production from Juli Porter, who now becomes Whisper’s Chief Operating Officer, a newly created role to support the company’s continuing growth. As COO, Porter will take on greater responsibility, focusing more on strategic development and company operations. She joined Whisper in 2012.
Knowles said: “I have worked with Whisper previously and love its ambitious yet friendly approach to all its projects. They work on some really impressive series and productions and I’m looking forward to bringing my experience to the team.”
Porter said: “Whisper has been part of my life for the last seven years, during which time it has developed into a leading UK sports production company. I’m really looking forward to being able to focus predominantly on the operational side of the business and support its next exciting stage of growth.”
Sunil Patel said: “These are two fantastic appointments, which further strengthen the Whisper team. Karen brings a wealth of experience and contacts to Whisper, having worked on live primetime Saturday night shows and factual entertainment documentaries, and it’s great to welcome her back. I’m also really pleased about Juli’s promotion. She is an integral part of the Whisper team and her knowledge and experience are vital to the business.”
Whisper’s current portfolio includes BBC Women’s Six Nations, Formula 1, SailGP, W Series, Women’s Super League and the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics. It also produces documentaries.
Whisper now has offices in London, Cardiff and Maidenhead.
