Netflix has released its trailer for the next season of Left Bank Pictures The Crown, due to release on November 9th.

The show has already caused controversy, with Dame Judi Dench calling it “crude sensationalism” in a letter to The Times earlier this week.

The trailer is accompanied on YouTube by a disclaimer: “Inspired by real events, the fictional dramatisation tells the story of Queen Elizabeth II and the political and personal events that shaped her reign.”

It goes on to say: “It’s a new decade, and the royal family are facing what may be their biggest challenge yet: proving their continued relevance in ‘90s Britain. As Diana and Charles wage a media war, cracks begin to splinter the royal foundation.”

Netflix has delayed its Prince Harry and Meghan Markle documentary series, which was due to follow The Crown.
