Warp Films has hired Siobhan Morgan as its new Head of Development.

Morgan will work with joint CEOs, Mark Herbert and Peter Carlton, to continue to grow the television drama slate for the UK and international markets and identify new talent. Morgan will oversee all current development projects, working with writers such as Sean Conway, Fran Poletti and Colette Kane. Morgan has also secured a brand-new commission at a major UK broadcaster since starting at Warp Films, penned by first-time writer Billy Mager.

Mark and Peter said of the hire “We were working closely with Siobhan on a few developments with the BBC and were so impressed with her instincts on projects, the way she dealt with talent and her story skills that we knew she was the right person to bring in to run our development department.”

Siobhan Morgan joins from the BBC where she was an Assistant Drama Commissioner for the North of England. She previously worked in the BBC Children’s drama commissioning team and as a script editor and producer at Lime Pictures.

She said ‘I’m thrilled to join Warp at such an exciting time of change for the company. Warp has always been an iconic Northern indie known for authentic and fearless storytelling. I can’t wait to build a development slate in line with our new creative vision whilst retaining the legacy that makes Warp’s output so innovative and unique.’

Additionally, Hannah Smith has joined Siobhan’s team as a development executive, working alongside Soph Webberley. Hannah previously held the same role at Sister Pictures and is also known for her work on CBBC’s recent output, including JoJo & Gran Gran and Danger Mouse.
