Wall to Wall has launched a regional production base in Bristol, Wall to Wall West.
The Warner Bros owned production company has secured several commissions for its new West Country base.
The new outfit will initially focus on factual programming, but the longer-term ambition also includes drama and entertainment.
Wall to Wall West is already in production on two series The Sweet Makers, a 3 x 1hr series telling the history of sugar as a group of modern-day confectioners create the sweets of the past, and the latest in the Back In Time franchise.
Wall to Wall has also secured a commission for a new three-part history series to be made from the new regional base.
In addition BBC One has ordered two further series of the Who Do You Think You Are? from Wall to Wall, and five of the films will be produced from Bristol during 2018 and 2019.
In all, the company has upwards of 25 hours of primetime factual programming slated to be made from the Bristol office.
The company has appointed executive producer Emily Shields to head up Wall to Wall West. Her credits include the Back In Time franchise and a range of history and documentary series including The Secret History of Our Streets and factual entertainment formats, Supernanny and Faking it.
Leanne Klein, CEO of Wall to Wall said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be setting up in Bristol. I spent much of my early career working here and I very much look forward to meeting and re-connecting with the talent based in the region. Emily is a brilliant creative executive and is the perfect person to continue the Wall to Wall tradition of making high quality, fascinating and entertaining series from our new West Country base.”
