Wag TV has appointed former Discovery Networks exec Janice Strangward to lead its distribution arm, Wag Worldwide, which will officially launch at Mipcom this month.

Strangward, who has also held senior sales roles at Entertainment One, Passion Distribution, Al Jazeera Media Network and Zee Entertainment Enterprises, has experience selling a variety of content genres across several territories and will also be responsible for acquisition of third party content for distribution by Wag.

Wag Worldwide will make its first appearance at Mipcom with 62 hours of new content as well as a slate of pop-science, history and engineering shows in development to seek pre-sales funding.

Wag TV, headed by CEO Martin Durkin, has recently won commissions from UKTV and Discovery’s Science Channel in the US.  The Great War In Numbers (6 x 60) which tells the story of World War 1 through the use of statistics and Strange Evidence (10 x 60) which investigates strange events caught on surveillance camera will both premiere this autumn on Yesterday (UKTV) and Science Channel respectively.

Other Wag credits include factual shows Combat Dealers, How Do They Do It  and What On Earth.
Durkin has commented:  “We’re so excited to have Janice heading up the new team.  Her expertise and professionalism is very well respected in the world of distribution.”

Wag Worldwide will be present on the UK Pavilion stand.
