Cambridge-based VFX studio, Vine FX, has announced the opening of Vine FX Cymru, a new studio branch in the Welsh capital.
The Cardiff studio builds on Vine FX’s existing Cambridge and Manchester operations, further expanding the company’s UK footprint and creative capacity
The new branch will support productions across Wales and the South West. Executive VFX Producer, Pete Rogers, joins as head of the new studio alongside Chris Callow, who takes on the role of VFX Supervisor.
Pete Rogers said, “I’m very excited to be joining the Vine FX team and leading the new Cardiff studio. Vine FX has a reputation for producing ambitious, high quality VFX, and the work they deliver on each show they are part of is a real testament to the talent and creativity within the company. It’s a great time to be joining the business and helping to bring that wealth of experience to Wales. The Welsh screen industry is producing some fantastic work and there’s a real opportunity to build on the strength of the TV and film industry here. I’m looking forward to connecting Vine FX with local productions and supporting productions in Wales and further afield.”
Founder Michael Ilingworth says: “This marks another significant milestone for Vine FX. Following the opening of our Manchester studio, Cardiff is a natural next step for us and an exciting part of our plans for the future. Wales has a well-established screen industry and a strong pool of creative talent, and having a presence in Cardiff gives us the opportunity to work more closely with productions and teams in the region. We’re delighted to have Pete Rogers leading the new studio. Pete brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of the industry, and I’m confident that he and the Cardiff team will play an important role in establishing Vine FX throughout Wales and the wider creative landscape.”
The opening of Vine FX Cymru follows the launch of Vine FX Manchester earlier this year. Vine FX says the studio “reinforces part of a broader long-term strategy to building a strong UK-wide creative presence, and developing long-term relationships with production talent across the country.”
Recent work for Vine FX includes Enola Holmes 3, adding to Vine FX’s previous involvement with Netflix as well as National Geographic’s latest historical docudrama, Pompeii: Out of Time with Tom Hiddleston.
