Outpost VFX was the main vendor for the third series of Netflix hit Bridgerton.

Outpost’s work on Bridgerton season 3 ranged from full-CG environments to 3D asset creation, set extensions and period accuracy clean up.

One of the more creatively challenging elements of the team’s work was the flyaway balloon sequence – Bridgerton’s biggest stunt sequence to date. For this, Outpost would create the CG hot air balloon that gets caught in the wind, sending its basket careening towards Penelope.

Outpost VFX Supervisor John McLaren was on set throughout filming to provide hands-on VFX support to the production team and to capture important data for the post production stage. This helped the team in creating a complex cloth sim of the balloon reacting to the wind, successfully embedding it into the captured footage and adding a sense of danger to the scene.

Other work included the CG butterflies of the Butterfly Ball, replacing blue screens with intricate ceilings and chandeliers, adding detailing to the Bridgerton and Featherington houses and more.

All episodes are now streaming on Netflix.
