Hawk lenses maker Vantage is to open Hawk London, a full rental service company including cameras, lenses and grip equipment.

The opening of the new facility means Hawk Anamorphic lenses and all other Hawk and Vantage products can be rented and serviced in the UK.

“At Hawk, we’re proud of our 30-year track record of constant lens innovation,” says CEO and co-founder Peter Martin. “Our success has always fueled our further endeavors. Throughout that time, we’ve worked with major British producers on the biggest projects, from Star Wars right up to The Little Mermaid. With Hawk London, we’re putting down roots in the vibrant UK market, and looking forward to continued success in tandem with our partners there and around the globe.”

Hawk London is supported by facilities worldwide including Weiden, Los Angeles, Paris, Prague, Marrakech, Leipzig, Brussels and Berlin.

“We are very pleased to establish this partnership to provide fast and uncomplicated support to filmmakers in the UK” explains Wolfgang Bäumler. “Our goal with this collaboration is to enable our products and services to be more easily available in UK and expand our Hawk family internationally. Having this partnership in London enables us to take care of all the Hawk enthusiasts in the UK.”

Charles Heales, Hawk London said: “As a cinematographer working in the industry for the past decade I, like many, have often desired using Hawk lenses on many British projects. It’s exciting to be part of making Hawk and Vantage lenses accessible to fellow filmmakers by helping create the new and first home for Hawk in the UK. Hawk London is a fresh take on the traditional hire business model, giving our highly creative customers an environment to comfortably test and prep in a functional yet relaxing setting.”

Hawk London will be situated at Here East based in the heart of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in East London.

Gavin Poole, CEO of Here East comments: “It is a pleasure to welcome Hawk London to our Here East campus and we are delighted the team have chosen us as the home for their UK headquarters. This is an exciting step for a film and TV industry trailblazer – and they will be sitting alongside world-class entrepreneurs, creatives and academics to share ideas, knowledge and expertise of this flourishing sector. As a new business venture in this ever-growing sector, the team will be fully supported in establishing their presence at Here East and beyond as they build out their facilities and launch their products. Hawk London will create valuable job opportunities for the local community in the film and TV sector – the very genesis of our campus.”
