Channel 5 has commissioned Glasgow based indie, Raise The Roof Productions and Motion Content Group to make Twice The Life for Half The Price, an “aspirational life change series for families looking for the ultimate quality of life” fronted by Kate Humble. It is Raise the Roof’s first order from the broadcaster.

The 6×60 series, earmarked for transmission later in the year, helps families desperate to leave the rat race behind and radically transform their quality of life, whether it’s a house by the sea or a chocolate-box country cottage in an idyllic village.

Kate Humble said: “Over a decade ago I made a big move, waved goodbye to life in the city and set up home in rural Wales.  It was a huge change and even though I had grown up in the country, I soon discovered I had lots to learn.  I am really looking forward to meeting the families who are about to undertake this same journey, following their progress and hopefully being able to help and support them along the way.  Will leaving behind the hubbub of city life help them achieve their dream of Twice the Life?”

Andrew Jackson, Creative Director, Raise the Roof Productions who is Executive Producer on the new series said: “It’s great to be working with Channel 5 and Kate Humble on this fantastic new series. Watching the ups and downs of people as they embark on this massive life change will be gripping and we can’t wait to get stuck in.”

Melanie Darlaston, Executive Producer, Motion Content Group said: “I think most of us have dreamed of upping sticks and changing our lives at some point but few have the guts to actually do it. It will be fascinating to live the journey through these brave people embarking on a life changing move.”

Twice The Life for Half The Price was commissioned at Channel 5 by Emma Westcott, Commissioning Editor Factual and Features. The Executive Producer for Raise the Roof Productions is Andrew Jackson and the Executive Producer for Motion Content Group is Melanie Darlaston.
