Pulse director Ryan Booth had to remotely direct 16 shoots with 16 DPs for a new spot for McDonald’s shot across the USA.
The ad involved capturing the brand’s iconic arches and telling the story of their support for key workers during the pandemic.
Meticulously planned routes ensured airtight social distancing for each of the DPs involved, together with the production team, it was ensured that everyone involved worked in complete isolation with no contact with anyone else.
This meant finding a McDonald’s restaurant closest to each DP’s home-base (via google maps), ensuring they could either walk or drive themselves to the location alone, and adhering to a strict 1-hour shooting schedule which started at the break of dawn. Booth collaborated with the post teams remotely.
