Two Brothers Pictures has added Ólafur Darri Ólafsson (Trapped, The Missing) and Alex Dimitriades (The End, The Cry)  to the cast of new character-driven, mystery-packed drama series The Tourist for BBC One, HBO Max, Stan and ZDF.

They join Jamie Dornan, Danielle Macdonald, Shalom Brune-Franklin and Hugo Weaving previously announced.

Ólafur Darri Ólafsson is set to play Billy, an American bound up in the epic cat and mouse chase with The Man (Jamie Dornan). Alex Dimitriades will portray Kostas, an extremely wealthy and powerful character with nefarious international business interests.

Ólafur Darri Ólafsson commented: “When I read the scripts for The Tourist I found the character of Billy utterly compelling and I was drawn into this world created by Harry and Jack Williams from the first page. I’m pleased to be joining such a fantastic ensemble cast and working with Two Brothers Pictures again.”

Alex Dimitriades commented:  The Tourist has blown me away. It’s dark and twisted with touching moments of humour and I’m proud to be joining the cast, working alongside stellar actors on a truly unique story from Harry and Jack Williams.”

The Tourist is a Two Brothers Pictures (an all3media company) production for the BBC, in association with Highview Productions, All3Media International, the South Australian Film Corporation, HBO Max, Stan and ZDF. The 6×60 drama has been written by Bafta-nominated and Emmy and Golden Globe-winning producers and screenwriters Harry and Jack Williams (Baptiste, The Missing, Lair), who alongside Christopher Aird (Baptiste, Liar, Clique) and Andrew Benson will serve as executive producers for Two Brothers Pictures and Tommy Bulfin (Normal People, Line of Duty, Peaky Blinders) for the BBC. Lisa Scott (A Sunburnt Christmas, The Hunting) will produce and Chris Sweeney (Liar, Back to Life) will executive produce and direct. It was commissioned by Piers Wenger, Director of BBC Drama and Charlotte Moore, BBC Chief Content Officer. International sales are handled by global partner All3Media International.

The Tourist will premiere on BBC One and BBC iPlayer and be available on HBO Max, Stan and ZDF.
