Production company Odelay Films has become a Certified B Corporation.
Represented in both the UK and the USA, the accreditation recognises Odelay as a B Corp Certified business within the advertising, broadcast and production industry.
B Corp Certification is a designation that a business is meeting high standards of verified performance, accountability, and transparency on factors from employee benefits and charitable giving to supply chain practices and input materials.
To get certification, a company must demonstrate high social and environmental performance by achieving a B Impact Assessment score of 80 or above and passing a risk review; make a legal commitment by changing their corporate governance structure to be accountable to all stakeholders, not just shareholders, and achieve benefit corporation status if available in their jurisdiction and exhibit transparency by allowing information about their performance measured against B Lab’s standards to be publicly available on their B Corp profile on B Lab’s website.
MD Prudence Beecroft said: “The process requires diligence, patience and a huge amount of commitment and time, but one that we are so very proud to have undertaken. It’s allowed us to really look at every aspect of our impact as a business and review, reflect and improve. This accreditation recognises all of our team’s efforts, and our dedication to be a conscious, equitable, sustainable business and an enriching place to work. We will continue to improve and help elevate standards of how we operate, but also encourage the wider industry to do the same”
Through a series of complex assessments, Odelay demonstrated its commitment and passion to deliver the highest standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability. B Lab, a non-profit organisation, evaluates the certification by measuring a company’s impact on its team, suppliers, clients, community and environment.
Odelay’s Head of Advertising, Aly Moffat adds: “Odelay is one of only a handful of production companies to be B corp certified in the UK. When I joined Odelay nearly a year ago the fact that they were working towards B corp certification was a big driver in my commitment to the company and this is something that I really want to tap into as we continue to grow as a business and expand into new areas. The appetite for good environmental and ethical practices is now huge amongst both agencies and clients, and to be at the forefront of this movement is really pivotal.”
