Nutopia has made a number of senior management appointments and promotions, bringing in Nav Raman as director of development and naming Helena Tait as chief operating officer, reporting to the company’s founder and ceo Jane Root.

Tait has been promoted to chief operating officer from head of Production. Before Nutopia,she worked at Wall to Wall overseeing series including Who do you Think you Are before heading up the Production Department at Diverse from 2006 and supervising all genres of output across its London and Bristol offices. She moved to Nutopia as head of Production in May 2010.

Nav Raman joins Nutopia as executive producer and director of Development and is executive producer on an eight part factual entertainment series for Sky.  As commissioning editor, Factual Entertainment at C4 she was responsible for commissioning peak time series and formats. Her slate included Brat Camp, Super Nanny and Child Genius, as well as the Top Ten and 100 Greatest series. She has also worked as an executive producer at CBBC independent commissioning and executive produced BBC1 9pm series High Street Dreams and Duncan Bannatyne’s Seaside Rescue.

Former deputy head of Production Josh Wilkins, who joined Nutopia in 2011, will now become head of Production.  During his time at Nutopia Wilkins has overseen the creation of many of its mega-docs including Mankind, How We Invented the World and 1980s: The Decade That Made Us. He has also worked producing specialist factual television in the US and spent four years overseeing multi-series drama at Darlow Smithson and Blast Films, including I Shouldn’t Be Alive and Mermaids for Discovery and The Queen for Channel 4.

Rupert Brankin-Frisby, previously a consultant with the company handling Legal and Business Affairs, has become the company’s commercial director.  Formerly commercial director at talkbackTHAMES, Rupert has been running his own consultancy specialising in corporate and commercial advice to companies across the media sector. 

Nutopia’s recently appointed acting managing director Carl Griffin says, “Each one brings phenomenal expertise and experience in developing and producing programming with high production values.”
