Wall of Productions has been recommissioned by Netflix to produce a second episode of its format What Would You Do?
The new episode will go live on June 29th to launch the second chapter of season 4 of the streamer’s flagship series Stranger Things, releasing 1 July 2022.
Wall of Productions is founded by actors Percelle Ascott and Joivan Wade and led by managing director Tafara Makopa.
The first episode of the format debuted on Still Watching Netflix’s Youtube in early April to promote the second season of east-London based drama Top Boy, and has been viewed over 8 million times across Netflix’s social platforms including Tik Tok and Instagram.
What Would You Do? brings back TV and social media personalities Yung Filly and Harry Pinero, with the new episode again releasing on Netflix’s Youtube and other social channels.
The online comedy format comprises the pair reviewing different scenes in the show and discussing and often re-enacting what they would do differently. Directed and written by Head of Development Shakii Mongulu and produced by Chris Boorman, Wall of Productions created, developed and produced the series.
Rich Hawkins, Creative Production Lead, Netflix says: “As a fan of Filly and Harry I love What Would You Do?. The writing and production from Wall of Productions is so slick, and Harry and Filly bring it to life with such effortlessly funny performances. It’s a great blend of talent, and does a brilliant job of rooting a huge, global show like Stranger Things in real British culture.”
Percelle Ascott, Co-founder and Executive Producer, Wall of Productions comments, “It was a real pleasure to be apart of the Top Boy marketing campaign and being able to work with Netflix again. Top Boy is a huge part of the culture and combining this with narrative sketches and two of the best entertainers in Harry and Yung Filly was a no brainer! It’s great to see that the online community loved it and can’t wait for Stranger Things to drop!”
Tafara Makopa, Managing Director and Executive Producer, Wall of Productions adds: “We had a lot of fun conceiving and producing this format for Netflix. The Top Boy episode performed really well amongst the young audience and generated a lot of great conversation across social media, helping the show sustain a lot of its hype following its launch. We had to bring to back the dynamic duo that is Filly and Harry to discuss all that goes down in Stranger Things S4. So, expect these two to bring a lot more antics and their usual unique perspective this time round. They’re going to need their own sketch show soon, Netflix sign them up!”
Wade and Ascott launched Wall of Productions in 2018 as part of the WALL ENTERTAINMENT GROUP. The company has produced Amazon Prime’s popular online Talk That Talk series, a chat show featuring a selection of black female influencers and personalities discussing everything from dating to social media. In addition to producing the viral hit Shiro’s Story with director and creator Rapman, they created the award-nominated, Does the Shoe Fit?, a dating show featuring numerous celebrity guests and Secret Sauce, a unscripted comedy-cooking show fronted by TV and social media personality Chunkz, which is currently the highest viewed entertainment show on the All4 platform.
As well as both starring in Shiro’s Story, Ascott was the lead in Netflix’s supernatural thriller The Innocents and can also be seen in Sky Atlantic’s Tin Star, whilst Wade is currently the lead in HBO Max’s superhero comedy-drama Doom Patrol.
