Merman has added  filmmaker Ben Wheatley to its branded team.

Wheatley’s early career saw him directing viral commercials, music videos, the self funded crime feature Down Terrace and cult psychological horror Kill List. From there he went on to  direct the darkly humorous Sightseers which catapulted him onto the global stage shooting High Rise & Free Fire featuring the likes Tom Hiddleston, Jeremy Irons and Sienna Miller. In between, he has continued to work in advertising directing ads for T-Mobile, Premier Inn and Thomas Cook amongst others.

He recently completed the sci-fi thriller Bulk journeying through alternate realities using experimental film techniques and stop-frame animation which goes on tour around the UK early next year. This supersedes his next big Hollywood film release, the highly anticipated neo-Western Normal starring Bob Odenkirk.

EP & Partner Siobhan Murphy, said: “I am a die hard Ben Wheatley fan (who isn’t?!) and his recent music video for Sleaford Mods featuring the incredible Gwendoline Christie (GAME OF THRONES) prompted me to get in touch again. As soon as we met it was just like old times. I literally cannot wait to begin this new chapter together.”

Ben Wheatley says – “Really excited to be working with the Merman team and making some cool stuff. They have their fingers in a lot of wonderful media pies! And I’m looking forward to what the New Year brings!”
