Matt Hancock has been named as the new culture secretary following Theresa May’s recent reshuffle.
He replaces Karen Bradley who has been made Northern Ireland secretary after 18 months in the job.
Hancock was previously minister of state for digital, a post he’s held since July 2016. Immediate issues in his inbox now will be the proposed 21st Century Fox takeover of Sky, the effect of Brexit on the creative industries as well as Channel 4’s possible move out of London.
Commenting on his new job, Hancock tweeted that he was “thrilled to become DCMS Secretary. Such an exciting agenda, so much to do, and great people. Can’t wait to get stuck in.”
