Lily James and Armie Hammer have joined the cast of director Ben Wheatley’s adaptation of Daphne du Maurier’s classic gothic thriller, Rebecca.

 

The adaptation is being penned by Jane Goldman (Kingsman series, X-Men: First Class). It tells the story of a newly-married young woman who, on arriving at her husband’s imposing family estate on a bleak English coast, finds herself battling the shadow of his dead first wife, the mysterious Rebecca, whose legacy continues to haunt the house.

 

James was most recently be seen in Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again. Her previous credits include Baby Driver alongside Ansel Elgort, Academy Award Winner Darkest Hour, and Cinderella. James will soon be seen in the Untitled Danny Boyle Film.

 

Hammer will next be seen starring in Mimi Leder’s On The Basis of Sex, Anthony Maras’ Hotel Mumbai and Babak Anvari’s Untitled Project. Previous credits include Call Me By Your Name, Sorry to Bother You, Nocturnal Animals, J.Edgar, The Social Network and and Ben Wheatley’s action-comedy Free Fire.

 

The producers are Working Title’s Eric Fellner and Tim Bevan and Nira Park.
