Channel 4 has commissioned a new dating show pilot from Label1. Five Guys A Week provides one single girl with five trial live-in boyfriends for a week – all at the same time. The men will live with the woman and go everywhere with her en masse whether that’s to work or out socialising, with a combination of fixed rig and roaming cameras following the action.
She will then whittle down the the men by the end of the week to the last man standing.
Commissioning Editor Gilly Greenslade said: “It’s not uncommon to have multiple online flirtations on the go at any one time thanks to modern dating apps. This format brings that concept into the real world. It’s wit and warmth make it an irresistible proposition.”
Label1 Head of Factual Entertainment Barnaby Coughlin adds: “The best formats are often the simplest. Five Guys A Week is as simple as they come. It fast-tracks the ‘getting to know you’ phase of a relationship and gives the central character a unique opportunity to compare and contrast all her suitors – in real time, through a series of intense and involving encounters.”
Five Guys a Week will be the first Label1 show to be executive produced by Coughlin, who joined the company as Head of Factual Entertainment having previously served as Executive Producer of First Dates and First Dates Hotel.
Casting and pre-production has started on the 1×60 pilot for Channel 4. The programme has been commissioned by Gilly Greenslade, Factual Entertainment Commissioning Editor.
The executive producers for Label1 are Barnaby Coughlin, Simon Dickson and Lorraine Charker-Philips.
