BBC Worldwide creative director of formats Kate Phillips has been named as the new controller of BBC entertainment commissioning.

Alan Tyler has been acting controller of entertainment since Mark Linsey left the role.

Phillips will be responsible for overseeing entertainment commissioning across all BBC Television channels, BBC iPlayer and BBC Three.

Prior to joining BBC Worldwide, she worked as the Channel Executive for BBC One and BBC Three.

Phillips will take up the role on 5 September 2016.
