ITV is to launch The Nightly Show, a new week night entertainment series launching in 2017 with comedian and writer David Walliams hosting the first week.

The 30-minute daily entertainment show going out in the 10pm slot is being produced for ITV by Second Act Productions and will see the series stripped over five nights a week for an eight week run, featuring a different big name host each week.

It will mean ITV moving the News at Ten to make way for the new show.

Walliams will be in the hot seat for the launch week with more high profile names to be announced soon.

The famous faces hosting the show during the eight week run will oversee a  mixture of topical monologue, studio games, celebrity guests, experts and VT’s.

The Nightly Show will be recorded ‘as live’ each day at 6pm in a converted studio at a central London location.

Peter Davey, ITV’s Head Of Comedy Entertainment said: “We’re really excited about launching this bold new show, and delighted that David will kick off what will be an eight week entertainment treat for viewers.”

The Nightly Show is a Second Act Production for ITV. Executive Producers are Katie Taylor and Lee Hupfield and was commissioned by Peter Davey, ITV’s Head of Comedy Entertainment.
