Masterpiece and ITV have green-lit Grantchester’s fifth season ahead of the current series four, starring James Norton, premiering on MASTERPIECE PBS in the US this weekend.
 
A co-production between Kudos and Masterpiece for ITV, Grantchester is distributed by Endemol Shine International and has sold across 176 countries. The fourth series has already aired on ITV in January of this year.
 
Kudos Executive Producer Emma Kingsman-Lloyd says: “We are very excited that Grantchester is returning for a fifth series. The audience has taken the pairing of Robson Green and Tom Brittney to their hearts and we are delighted to be able to continue the story of Geordie and Will with Masterpiece and ITV. ”
 
Grantchester will start shooting this summer in Cambridgeshire, with further casting news set to be announced in due course. The series will be Executive Produced for Kudos by Emma Kingsman-Lloyd and by writer/creator Daisy Coulam. The Executive Producer for Masterpiece is Rebecca Eaton at WGBH Boston. Series five will be produced by Richard Cookson and Directed by Gordon Anderson, Christiana Ebohon and Rob Evans. Adapted from the Grantchester Mysteries novels by James Runcie, the series was developed for television by Daisy Coulam and written by Daisy Coulam and John Jackson, Carey Andrews, Jake Riddell and Joshua St Johnston.
