Netflix has unveiled first-look images for Lookout Point’s upcoming adaptation of Pride and Prejudice at the Jane Austen Festival in Bath, confirming that the series will premiere on 3 December.

The first look images feature Emma Corrin as Elizabeth Bennet, Jack Lowden as Mr Darcy, Olivia Colman as Mrs Bennet, Rufus Sewell as Mr Bennet, Freya Mavor as Jane Bennet, Daryl McCormack as Mr Bingley, Jamie Demetriou as Mr Collins, Louis Partridge as Mr Wickham, Rhea Norwood as Lydia Bennet, Hopey Parish as Mary Bennet and Hollie Avery as Kitty Bennet.

Speaking at the Jane Austen Festival this afternoon, Dolly Alderton referred to the Austen ‘easter eggs’ she has included in the adaptation: ‘There are a few things in the show that I have planted, I read everything there is left of Jane’s letters and I tried to include any moments of that into Lizzy’s dialogue that I felt aligned with Lizzy. I really drew on the richness of biography in the Jane and Lizzy sisterhood between Jane and Cassandra.’

The new 6-part limited series will be a “faithful, classic” adaptation of the novel, written by Dolly Alderton (Everything I Know About Love) and directed by Euros Lyn (Heartstopper).

Exec producers are Laura Lankester, Will Johnston and Louise Mutter for Lookout Point, Dolly Alderton, Euros Lyn and Emma Corrin. Producer is Lisa Osborne.
