The Film and TV Charity is launching the UK’s first ever Behind the Scenes Week from November 28 – December 2, celebrating all of the people working behind the scenes in film, TV, and cinema who make such an invaluable contribution to the UK’s creative sector.

During Behind The Scenes Week, the Charity is calling on everyone right across the industry, from heads of departments to new recruits, to take a moment to celebrate one another across social media.

The initiative will shine a light on the people who don’t usually share the spotlight by asking people to #TurnTheCameraAround or to nominate their #hiddenheroes who make life in film, TV, and cinema special, whether working in production, post, distribution, projection or anywhere in between.

Behind The Scenes Week is a moment for everyone in the industry, whatever their role may be.

Landing in the middle of the Charity’s winter fundraising appeal, Behind The Scenes Week seeks to give everyone in the industry a chance to celebrate after an undoubtedly tough few years, recognising that despite hardship, the UK film, TV, and cinema industries have risen to incredible challenges to create and deliver some of their best work to date, informing, educating, and entertaining the nation.

More than 35 organisations have already confirmed support for the week, including Aardman, Argonon, Banijay UK, Black Camel Pictures, Bottle Yard Studios, Creators Inc, Daisybeck Productions, Dash Pictures, Disney, Dock 10, Dragonfly TV, Envy, Framestore, Fresh Start Media, Glassworks, Grain Media, Halo, Handle Freelance Solutions, ITV, Lookout Point, Middlechild Productions, Mini Productions, National Film and Television School, Out of Chaos Film, Quay Street Productions, Rare TV, Red Planet Pictures, Screen Yorkshire, SeeMôr Films, Shinfield Studios, Sky, Splice Post, Stage Fifty, Studio Ramsay and Warner Bros Studios Leavesden.

The Charity hopes that many more will get involved across the week, with Alex Pumfrey, Film and TV Charity ceo, saying: “With Behind The Scenes Week we want the industry to take a moment to look around, and to cheer and thank each other for the amazing contributions each and everyone makes to film, TV, and cinema! Every day the industry reaches out to us for support for their emotional, practical and financial needs, but we think it is important to ensure that we also take a moment to celebrate how incredible the industry is as well!

“This is a call to the industry to get involved. We want individuals and organisations to use the hashtags #BTSW, #BehindTheScenesWeek, #HiddenHero and #TurnTheCameraAround, and don’t forget to follow and tag the Charity @FilmTVCharity, so we can share all your amazing photos and videos!”

As well as getting involved in BTSW, with the Charity’s appeal in full swing it is also asking those who can to make a donation to ensure those in need of support have a place to turn to. Donate here.
