Reseller ES Broadcast has appointed Ben Murphy as md, with company owner Edward Saunders taking the title of Chief Executive Officer of the ES Broadcast group of companies.
Murphy joined ES Broadcast as Commercial Director in July 2016 from WTS Broadcast and has now been promoted to oversee the company’s equipment sales operation. He has spent more than 15 years with UK-based broadcast equipment resellers, including holding sales manager and sales director roles.
Edward Saunders, who founded ES Broadcast a decade ago, said of Murphy’s appointment: “Since joining the company eight months ago, Ben has displayed a fantastic appetite to take the company forward to the next stage of its development, and I have every confidence in his ability and skill set to achieve this.”
Murphy said: “The growth we are experiencing across the group is phenomenal, so I am excited to be stepping into a role at this stage to lead a great team of dedicated industry professionals and to expand ES Broadcast’s portfolio of services and products.”
Meanwhile, Alan Henry is to join the company as Commercial Director of its equipment sales arm, filling the role vacated by Murphy’s appointment as MD. Henry joins ES Broadcast from technology financing company Paragon Bank Asset Finance, where he was Sales Director. He has more than 15 years’ experience in the broadcast industry, having held sales manager positions with Snell & Wilcox and Barco. Before joining Paragon Bank, he was Regional Director for Northern Europe at Miranda Technologies/Grass Valley for almost six years.
Of Henry’s appointment, Ben Murphy said: “Alan’s extensive experience of large broadcast installations for international broadcasters, coupled with the commercial knowledge he has gained at Paragon, make him hugely qualified to head up our commercial activities.”
Henry himself commented: “Having provided services to ES Broadcast for a number of years, I have been fortunate to witness the incredible and exciting growth and maturity of the business. When Edward Saunders approached me to join him on his continuing journey, it was too great of an opportunity to pass up. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to be part of the growth plans and can’t wait to get stuck in ahead of NAB.”
Edward Saunders will continue to play an active role as CEO of ES Broadcast’s group of companies, which also includes broadcast rental firm ES Broadcast Hire, Fulham-based production rental company Filmstore, and Liquid Media Hub, a content services specialist operating out of Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire.
ES Broadcast has also brought in Snehal Savjani as Finance Director and Theo McMenamim as Technical Product Consultant. Savjani joins the company from Panalux, where he spent 14 years as Group Financial Controller and Group Finance Director. He has worked in the broadcast industry for more than 20 years, including roles in finance at the BBC, Zee TV and Channel 5.
McMenamin was previously employed as senior camera technician for Onsight at Pinewood Studios, specialising in camera systems, grip and lenses.
