Channel 4 has made three new appointments to its Specialist Factual and Documentaries commissioning teams.
Filmmaker and executive producer Alf Lawrie (pictured above) and Shaminder Nahal, currently Deputy Editor of Channel 4 News, will be joining the Specialist Factual Commissioning team, reporting into Head of Specialist Factual John Hay.
Michelle Chappell, currently Commissioning Editor of Factual, News and Current Affairs at Channel 5, will join the Documentaries commissioning team, reporting into Head of Documentaries Nick Mirsky.
C4 Deputy Chief Creative Officer & Head of Factual Ralph Lee said: "I’m really excited to have Alf, Shaminder and Michelle joining the factual team. The long term renewal of the existing factual slate will really benefit from their contributions."
Lawrie was recently the executive producer for the third series of The Island and for All Change at Longleat an observational documentary series for the BBC. He has also worked on comedy productions including Q.I., and Ali G in the USA.
Nahal has been Deputy Editor of Channel 4 News since 2012, and prior to that, was Deputy Editor of Newsnight.
During her time at Channel 5, Chappell has overseen daily shows The Wright Stuff and 5 News. Since joining Channel 5 in 2011, she has commissioned shows including My Violent Child, Killers Behind Bars, Billion Pound Patients and Too Tough to Teach.
