Blink Productions’ Dougal Wilson has directed a super charged school play for a new spot which is the first joint campaign between John Lewis and Waitrose.

Wilson has previously directed celebrated John Lewis spots including Tiny Dancer, The Long Wait, Buster the Boxer and Monty the Penguin.

In the ad, a standard school production turns into a supercharged version of Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody. The agency is Adam & Eve/DDB and the spot is part of a wider campaign explaining John Lewis and Waitrose’s rebrand with both retailers adding “& Partners” to their name.

The ad debuts tonight during Channel 4’s GBBO.
