Brighton’s back2back Productions has named Carla Foss as its new head of post-production.

Foss has more than 10 years of experience in, primarily, factual entertainment. In her new role, she will oversee back2back’s in-house post-production department, managing the overall post-production work flow from editing to delivery. Working alongside head of creative post-production Sharman Finn and a three-person edit-assistant team, Foss will also oversee back2back’s nine off-line suites, two online suites, and in-house GFX and music facilities.

Foss’ brief also includes overseeing the output of back2back Audio, the new purpose-designed audio facility that opened in February in Brighton’s Lanes district. back2back Audio, run by dubbing mixer and sound designer Wayne Urquhart, is primarily used to service back2back’s output but also offers serviced audio packages to local indies and London-based producers looking to expand into the regions. Foss’ appointment comes as the total number of hours to be delivered by back2back over the next 12 months grows to almost 80.

Foss joins back2back from Ricochet Television, where she was promoted to head of post-production operations in 2017. At Ricochet, where she started her career in 2008, Foss was key to delivering hundreds of hours of programming, including BBC One’s RTS award-winning The Repair Shop and Channel 4’s Food Unwrapped. Richochet was acquired by Warner Bros Television Productions in 2010, providing Foss with the opportunity to work on a variety of factual shows from WBTPUK’s stable of production companies, including Wall To Wall (Who Do You Think You Are?), Twenty Twenty (The Choir) and Renegade Pictures (Don’t Tell The Bride).

David Notman-Watt, back2back’s founder and managing director, said: “Carla joins back2back at a critical time in our continued growth. Our extensive post-production facilities have played a key part in ensuring that we’re nimble, agile and reactive — talents that are invaluable when pulling together multiple financing partners in order to get projects green-lit. Carla’s input and experience will ensure this continues as back2back expands to the next level.”

Carla Foss added: “It’s a privilege to be joining back2back at this exciting time in the company’s lifecycle. Next year looks set to be a pivotal one in terms of growth potential and new opportunities and I’m relishing the prospect of helping David and his team to achieve their ambitions.”
