Factual label Arrow Pictures has appointed Poppy Dixon as its Development Executive.

Dixon was latterly a Producer at Raw, where she was also Head of Development: Feature Documentaries and Specials. Her producing credits include BAFTA-winning feature documentary The Imposter, doc-scripted-hybrid movie American Animals, and the Harvey Weinstein documentary Untouchable, which premiered at Sundance 2019.

John Smithson, Creative Director, Arrow Pictures, said: “We have had a huge amount of interest in our ideas since we launched in December, so we are delighted to have Poppy on board to help fuel our growth. With nearly 15 years’ experience of working in factual film and TV, in both the UK and New York, Poppy brings a strong production background, combined with intellectual rigour and storytelling flair. She has originated, developed and produced a wealth of programme ideas, with much domestic and international success. She is a great asset to our team.”

Dixon’s remit is to help grow Arrow Pictures’ slate of feature documentaries, high-end documentary series and scripted content.  Her credits also include BAFTA-nominated Three Identical Strangers (Development Producer, for Raw) as well as The Prince of Pennsylvania, Silk Road: Drugs, Death and the Dark Web and Inside the Hunt for the Boston Bombers (all as Producer, for Raw). Prior to that, she worked on a number of projects with John Smithson at Darlow Smithson, including the highly acclaimed 9/11; Phone Calls from the Towers.

Poppy Dixon said: “It’s fantastic to join Arrow Pictures at this exciting, formative stage. John Smithson has one of the best creative visions in the industry and I am delighted to be working alongside him to grow the label’s output both in the UK and internationally.

“Arrow Pictures already has a rich slate – from exploring the relationship between man and beast; to stories of the 20th century’s most controversial characters; to some of the most compelling crime cases of recent years. I’m looking forward to working closely with the best talent and the world’s leading platforms on these projects.”
