Alias Hire has closed, citing the troubled industry sector, with commissioning affected by adverse economic conditions and last year’s writers’ strike.
In a linkedin post, Mark Wilson, former general manager of the hire company said: “After nearly 14 years at Alias Hire, it is sad that I have to say goodbye. As many of us know, the broadcast industry has been faltering for some time now. There have been many casualties including several longstanding hire companies. Alias Hire is sadly one of them. After 25 years, the last rental is now done.”
Alias, which originally was based in East London
Wilson has joined Soho Broadcast as business development manager.
Other hire companies have also been forced to close. Presteigne Broadcast Hire officially closed in early June.
