Zinc Media Group has announced a record year for revenue and profit, according to its annual results.

The company’s financial statements for 2023 show Zinc delivered its best results since 2010 with revenues hitting £40m (FY22: 30m) with an EBITDA profit of £1.0m (FY22: £0.1m).

Zinc says revenue growth was driven by 19% organic growth in television, alongside a full year contribution of The Edge which was acquired in August 2022.

The Edge Picture Company generated £13m of revenue in FY23 and the group overall “significantly outperformed the UK television production sector” with revenues growing by £4 million in 2023, and by £23m in two years.

15 television series were recommissioned, alongside 6 new series and Zinc recorded its highest level of international business with 23% of revenues coming from outside the UK (FY22: 18%).

Mark Browning, CEO, Zinc Media Group, says: ‘This has been a year of record achievement for the Group and comes off the back of significant investment in our people and our businesses along with our acquisition of The Edge 18 months ago. We have big ambitions to scale this Group through organic expansion and strategic acquisition’.

Programming highlights included Putin vs The West, Deborah James: Bowelbabe in Her Own Words and Gender Wars on Channel 4 as well as the group’s largest-ever USA television series, Fighter Pilots: The Real Top Gun (w/t) for National Geographic, which will be available on Disney+. The Group won its largest ever volume television commission in a two-year deal from Channel 5 for 136 hours of the hit show Bargain Loving Brits.
