Zinc Media has appointed Jago Lee as Creative Director of Blakeway Productions.

Lee was latterly Creative Director at Antenna Pictures, Blue Ant’s UK production studio, and prior to Antenna Pictures Lee was Head of Documentaries at Tiger Aspect before setting up Nerd TV in 2010, now part of super-indie Red Arrow.

His credits include: Experimental (Channel 4/National Geographic); How To Rob a Bank (Vice); Orangutan Jungle School (Channel 4); Inside The Gangsters Code (Discovery); The Sidemen Show (Youtube Originals); The Beatles, Hippies and Hells Angels (Sky Arts); Find My First Love (A+E); 12 Year Old Lifer (Channel 4/ A+E), and Is Love Racist? (Channel 4), amongst many others.

Greg Sanderson, Acting Managing Director, Zinc Media London, says: “Blakeway has undergone an exciting period of change in the last few years – building on its incredible track record in the UK by moving into premium factual series like Lost Cities with Albert Lin for National Geographic, and producing natural history series like The Wonderful World of Puppies for Channel Five and the forthcoming series The Farm for Love Nature. I’m really excited that Jago, working alongside Zinc’s other specialist factual expert Emma Hindley (Bafta-winning Suffragettes with Lucy Worsely), is now joining to push that growth yet further. There are very few people in the market with Jago’s breadth of experience – from  broadcasters and brands in the UK, through projects for the major US streamers, to innovative audio-to-tv production for podcast platforms. His reputation for creativity, innovation and excellence makes him a natural addition to our team.”

Jago Lee says: “Zinc Media’s production companies have a depth and breadth of experience   coupled with a reputation for quality which is hard to beat.  Blakeway’s particular success in innovative specialist factual is second to none and I’m looking forward to helping  drive  their growth plans, diversifying the genres and formats they produce, as well as the spectrum of platforms they work with.  I’m thrilled to be joining at such an exciting time.”

Zinc Media is home to six factual TV production brands: Blakeway; Blakeway North; Brook Lapping; Films of Record; Reef; and Tern Television; as well as marketing communications agency, Zinc Communicate

Lee takes up his Blakeway position on 1 June.
