Wonderhood Studios has promoted Tom Garton to Creative Director.

Garton joined Wonderhood as a Development Executive in 2019, was promoted to Head of Development in 2022, and to Director of Development in 2024.

In that time, he has worked across premium factual, documentary and specialist factual, with credits including The Man Who Definitely Didn’t Steal Hollywood, The Salisbury Poisonings, and Devil’s Advocate. He originated and developed the six-part factual format series The Fear Clinic, which he also executive produced, and co-executive produced and developed with Tom Anstiss Michael Jackson: The Trial for Channel 4. He also devised, script edited and co-EP’d Power: The Downfall of Huw Edwards — Wonderhood’s first drama.

Across his tenure, he has secured commissions with the BBC, Channel 4, 5, National Geographic, Sky, and ITV, and “has played a defining role in shaping the company’s slate strategy and creative direction.”

The appointment comes on the back of the success of Power: The Downfall of Huw Edwards, which was the biggest one-off special or movie on any channel since New Year’s Day 2026, and delivered the biggest audience for Channel 5 in over a year with a total 4.2 million viewers.

Upcoming commissions include a major four-part specialist factual series for the BBC, a feature documentary for National Geographic, a 90 minute feature documentary for C4 and imminent landmark series Salisbury Poisonings: the Untold Story documentary series for Channel 4, airing Wednesday 29th April, which follows on from the critically acclaimed series Evacuation.

Samantha Anstiss, Chief Creative Officer, Wonderhood Television, said: “Tom has been with us since our very first year and has been absolutely instrumental in our growth — originating stellar ideas and stories and securing commissions across the full range of PSBs and streamers, and shaping the creative ambition of everything we produce. He has a rare ability to identify and develop compelling stories, and his steady hand executive producing across some of our most complex productions has been invaluable. Tom brings both creative vision, tenacity and the experience to deliver at the highest level. He is a joy to work with, fun, intellectually rigorous and a great leader. As the ambition of our slate has evolved from documentary. Specialist factual and formats and now into drama with him at the helm this promotion is very well deserved.”

Tom Garton, Creative Director said, “Having seen the company grow from a start-up to a leading indie producing ambitious drama and documentary, it’s been a privilege to help shape the slate over the past seven years. I’ve been especially lucky to work alongside Sam and David, and have learned a huge amount from their creativity, experience and courage to tackle challenging subjects that spark national conversations. We have exceptional development and production teams, a brilliant slate ahead, and I’m excited for the next chapter of creating bold, entertaining, and thought-provoking shows that can reach a wide audience.”
