Cardiff based Wildflame Productions, part of the Flame Media Group, has acquired fellow Welsh indie Green Bay Media.
Wildflame Productions was set up in 2016 by John Caldon (Flame Group’s Chairman and CEO) and Wales based television executive Paul Islwyn Thomas (former BBC Wales Head of Arts and co-founder of Indus Films). It is now moving to new premises in Cardiff’s creative quarter, “growing its production talent base and preparing for the delivery of several major productions.”
John Caldon said, “We are delighted to welcome the Green Bay Media team as we enhance our UK production division and talent base. We have been highly impressed with the quality of staff and the creative ambition in Wales and Green Bay has an enviable reputation in factual programming”.
Green Bay’s Creative Director, John Geraint said “Green Bay is thrilled to join this powerful alliance with a company whose values and commitment to quality we truly admire. Together, we’ll bring many more Welsh stories to world screens”.
Wildflame’s CEO, Paul Islwyn Thomas said “Green Bay was one of the first Welsh based factual indies to become recognised across the world and we look forward to building on that success. This exciting relationship will showcase the very best Welsh talent and open up new partnerships with broadcasters in the UK and commissioners internationally”.
Founded in 2001 by Phil George and John Geraint, Green Bay Media has produced shows for the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5, S4C, the History Channel, National Geographic and France Télévisions. Major series include The Roman Invasion of Britain, Shakespeare – The King’s Man, The Castle Builders, 2017’s Mountains and Life and The Story of Wales’ with BBC Newsreader Huw Edwards.
Flame Group’s Chairman & CEO, John Caldon said “Green Bay has produced award winning world-class television for nearly 20 years. We’re proud to be able to build on this success and support the talented team to continue to produce outstanding programming”.
