Wag Entertainment is ramping up its true crime content with several new series and a feature documentary in production for Channel 5 and 5STAR.

Dying for Revenge (8×60’) recounts the stories of crimes committed as an act of revenge.

From a worker humiliated by a colleague to a woman facing ruin when an ex-partner sells their home, the trigger events are different, but the consequences are the same: being wronged leads to murder. Illustrated with evocative drama reconstruction, location filming and archive, each story is told through interviews with family and friends, insights from detectives who solved each case, and analysis from expert criminologists.

Wag is also in production on a 1×90’ feature documentary and 5×60’ series unravelling true crime stories which start with the killer themselves ringing the emergency services, and a 2×60’ series following the case of a murderer and his lover who duped the authorities for more than 20 years about the crime they had committed.

Bridget Boseley, Creative Director, Wag Entertainment said: “True crime is becoming an increasingly important part of Wag’s slate as we expand the number of genres we’re working in and the broadcasters and streamers we’re producing for. I’m delighted to be cementing our relationship with Channel 5 with these latest commissions.”

Dying for Revenge is series produced by Richard Turley, and the executive producers are Bridget Boseley and Stephanie Harvie Campbell. It was commissioned for Channel 5 by Denise Seneviratne. Fifth Season is distributing the series internationally.

Wag’s recent true crime commissions and output includes Don’t Pick Up the Phone (3×60’), a limited series co-production between Netflix globally and Paramount+ in the UK, which tells the extraordinary story of a decade of abuse carried out by a hoax caller; Instagram’s Worst Con Artist (2×60’) which tells the story of Belle Gibson, the Australian cancer con artist who built a wellness empire on the back of her fraudulent claim of having brain cancer; and The Real Fatal Attraction (1×60), the story of the lengths a woman spurned will go to, to destroy her ex-lover’s life. Both were commissioned for ITVX and ITV1 and will air later this year.
