Dragonfly has appointed Vice Studio’s Global Head of Documentaries Alex Moore as Executive Vice President Documentaries and Unscripted, a newly created role to build on the company’s recent success in premium documentary series and feature docs.

Reporting to Dragonfly Managing Director Richard Bond, Moore will be charged with developing the slate with an emphasis on US and international streamer commissions.

Moore joined Vice Studios in 2020 and his division was responsible for shows including Lewis Capaldi: How I’m Feeling Right Now (Netflix), Encounters (Netflix) and Max Verstappen: Anatomy of a Champion (Viaplay).  Most recently he co-created and Executive Produced (with Elton John and David Furnish) limited series Better Angels: The Gospel According to Tammy Faye which was directed by Oscar-nominated Dana Adam Shapiro and premiered at Sundance 2024.

During his previous five-year tenure as CEO at Grain Media, the company won two Oscars including Netflix’s first ever Academy Award The White Helmets, and A&E Networks’ Learning to Skateboard in a Warzone (If You’re a Girl), and was two-time Emmy nominated for Lost and Found (Nat Geo), exec produced by Leonardo DiCaprio.

Richard Bond, Managing Director of Dragonfly said of the appointment: “Alex has an outstanding track record in creating award winning films and series that resonate with a global audience, and I am unbelievably excited that he is coming on board to drive our international expansion.”

He takes up his post later this month.
