I May Destroy You, Sally4Ever and Dead Pixels producer Various Artists Limited has appointed Channel 4’s Commissioning Editor, Jack Bayles as Head of Comedy.
The indie was founded in 2017 by Sam Bain and Jesse Armstrong, together with producers and ex Channel 4 Commissioners, Phil Clarke and Roberto Troni.
Bayles takes up the new role from August and will be based in London and Brighton. Bayles will be responsible for overseeing VAL’s comedy slate as well as developing new projects and reports into Phil Clarke.

Prior to VAL, Bayles produced Channel 4’s Catastrophe with Sharon Horgan and Rob Delaney, and in 2017 was appointed Commissioning Editor for the channel. He’s since been responsible for all three series of Stath Lets Flats, two series of Derry Girls, two series of Aisling Bea’s This Way Up, along with Michell & Webb’s Back, The Curse, Hullraisers and the upcoming Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared, during his (five year) tenure.
