The BBC has made the decision not to resume filming on the 38th series of Top Gear, after presenter Freddie Flintoff was injured in a crash at Surrey’s Dunsfold Aerodrome in December last year.

The BBC has apologised to Flintoff and the BBC Studios production will review its health and safety procedures before making further decisions. The Daily Mail reported that an investigation by the Health and Safety Executive found no evidence of serious failings.

The production, now in its twenty first year,  has filmed at Dunsfold since 2002. Production halted on the series after the car that Flintoff was driving on the track at Dunsfold flipped over, resulting in facial injuries and damage to his ribs.
