Producer Simon Maloney (Time, I May Destroy You, Everything I Know about Love) is joining Sister as an Executive Producer for Northern Sister, the Manchester based production hub of the indie.
Working alongside Creative Director of Scripted, Northern Sister Lucy Dyke (The Split, Black Mirror, Eric) who heads up the team, Maloney’s first project in the newly created role sees the Time and I May Destroy You producer join the previously announced Passenger as Executive Producer with Dyke. The darkly comic thriller written by debut screenwriter Andrew Buchan is currently in pre-production for ITVX, with the series due to start filming in late 2022.
Maloney’s focus will be developing and producing high-end scripted projects in the region, nurturing new, visionary creators from diverse backgrounds both on and off screen. He will also in work in collaboration with the teams located in London and LA.
As a freelance producer Maloney has overseen projects including Jimmy McGovern’s Time (BBC) which won Best Mini-Series and Best Actor at this year’s Bafta’s, Michaela Cole’s multi award winning, I May Destroy You (BBC), Season 3 of Peaky Blinders (BBC/ Netflix) and most recently, the BBC adaptation of Dolly Alderton’s memoir, Everything I Know About Love.
Before this, Maloney gained experience working as a 1st Assistant Director on high-end dramas and features including The Railway Man, Peaky Blinders S1, Luther, Penny Dreadful, Fortitude, Marvellous and The Honourable Woman.
