At a time of significant change across the post-production industry, a new symposium, THE ASSEMBLE, is coming to London on Friday, 10 July 2026.

The dynamic one-day event will bring together professionals, educators and technology leaders under one roof, providing a rare opportunity for the entire post-production ecosystem to connect and exchange ideas.

The event has already attracted strong industry backing, including a partnership with Televisual, signaling its importance as a new forum for sector-wide conversation and collaboration.

The keynote speaker will be Walter Murch, the legendary film editor and sound designer widely credited with pioneering modern sound design through landmark films including Apocalypse Now and The Conversation. Murch’s involvement underscores the event’s ambition and industry relevance.

Andy Rees, Executive Dean for the School of Design, Media & Creative Industries at Ravensbourne University London, said: “THE ASSEMBLE represents exactly the kind of industry collaboration Ravensbourne believes is essential at this moment of rapid change. By convening leading practitioners, technology partners, and educators, we are creating an environment where knowledge flows freely and new possibilities emerge. Events like this help ensure that education remains closely aligned with professional practice, while giving the industry a chance to help shape the talent pipeline it depends on.”

Hosted at Ravensbourne University London, located next to London’s iconic O2 Arena, THE ASSEMBLE will feature panel discussions with influential figures from across post-production, alongside workshops and technology demonstrations from Blackmagic Design, Avid and Adobe.

Designed specifically as an industry-focused gathering, THE ASSEMBLE aims to encourage collaboration across disciplines, creating space for conversations that bridge creative practice, emerging technologies and education.

Richard Hughes, Founder and Director, THE ASSEMBLE, said: “There is a huge amount of movement in the post-production sector right now, from emerging technologies to pressing issues around consolidation, finance and staffing. THE ASSEMBLE is an opportunity for people to step away from their post-production suites and connect with like-minded individuals who care deeply about the future of the sector.”

Alongside keynote sessions and industry discussions, the conference will provide attendees with opportunities to network and explore the rapidly evolving post- production landscape from fresh and thought-provoking perspectives.

James Bennett, Managing Director, Televisual Media UK, added: “When Ravensbourne first approached Televisual about this project, I loved the idea of bringing post houses, vendors, Academics and Alumni together to explore how post is evolving and what it might become over the years to come. I have always been fascinated by the intersection between technology, creativity, consumer demand, education and business. And that crossroads – perhaps roundabout – is what THE ASSEMBLE will explore.”

Tickets for the conference are priced at only £20 (plus VAT and booking fee), helping make the event accessible to freelancers and independent creatives seeking networking and collaboration opportunities during a period of rapid industry change. The conference is sponsored by Altered Images and Salon.
