StudioCanal has recruited M-K Kennedy, former Netflix VP Production for Europe, as executive managing director of TV series, based in London.

Kennedy will report to StudioCanal CEO Anna Marsh.

Kennedy worked with Netflix for seven years. Before that she was VP Production at NBC Universal Media.

StudioCanal currently has series in 16 languages, produced through its network of 14 production companies in ten countries. These include Red Production and SunnyMarch in the UK.

Benedict Cumberbatch’s SunnyMarch is filming six-parter How to Stop Time, based on the novel by Matt Haig. Red is working on Neil Gaiman’s Anansi Boys, a co-production with Endor, for Prime Video.

Marsh said: “M-K’s in-depth experience and knowledge in television production is second to none and she is an executive who demonstrates strong strategic vision. Throughout her career, M-K has garnered a stellar reputation within the industry and has established long-standing relationships with key talent that will continue to fuel our ambitious growth strategy.”

Kennedy added: “The 14 production companies in the StudioCanal TV series family are gifted storytellers, and experts in their respective markets. In my previous role, I witnessed how local stories can captivate audiences worldwide. StudioCanal know that power and amplify those local stories via their strong distribution and international sales businesses, ensuring these stories find their audiences.”
