Leeds based facility Sticks & Glass has acquired a further 4,000 sqft of commercial space in order to build multi-function production suites and open plan production offices.

With phase 1 of the build now underway, the first 3 new suites will be completed in August 2023.

These rooms have been designed and equipped to cater to various aspects of the post and live production process, including online editing, colour grading, tracklaying, audio mixing, commentary recording, live graphics, replays and vision mixing.

By incorporating these capabilities into a matrix of suites at S&G it aims to streamline legacy live workflows and keep collaborators, filmmakers, content creators, producers and directors all working together under one roof. The versatile nature of the production suites enables efficient transitions between different stages of the production process.

“Our goal is to create a production space that empowers our clients to do things differently, and get professionals working face to face again,” said Verdy Oliver, co-founder of Sticks & Glass. “With our new, multi-function production suites and adjoining open plan production offices, we are offering a solution for both live and post which we believe is quite unique. Whether it’s video editing or live camera switching, our state-of-the-art rooms provide the perfect environment for productions and indies to scale up and down as their productions’ needs change over the course of the job.”

S&G has been delivering broadcast services to clients including the BBC, CBS, IMG and C4 since they started in 2018.

“We are incredibly excited to build these multi-function production suites in our beautiful facility,” added Adam Bennett, co-founder of Sticks & Glass. “Our aim is to create a space that helps productions stay close to their talent, whether it be directors, editors or commentators, whilst reducing the burden on those working from home. We know that lots of professionals are happy with working remotely and we understand the world of possibilities this opens up. However, we also see the need for small independent production companies to get together once or twice a week, and be close to the edit or indeed the live output. The multi-function spaces are about making this an easy place for productions to call home.”

The expansion has been in part funded by Creative UK and its Creative Growth Finance fund. The organisation, which supports creative sector businesses, has been instrumental in the S&G journey and a major partner since 2020.
