Sony Pictures Television and Stellify Media, in partnership with Northern Ireland Screen, are launching a new All-Ireland screenwriting prize.

The brief is for high-concept, contemporary, returnable crime drama, that can be filmed on the island of Ireland. The winning submissions will receive funded development to bring a project to pitching stage.

Entrants will be asked to submit a short pitch to brief and an example of their writing.

A maximum of 6 projects will be selected for development funding to write a treatment, with the best ideas being further developed to pilot script stage, and the option for Stellify Media to take a series into production.

Wayne Garvie, President of International Production, Sony Pictures Television said: “Great stories are at the heart of what we do at Sony. This prize gives us an opportunity to support Irish voices in finding an international audience for their stories. Get writing!”

Richard Williams, Chief Executive of Northern Ireland Screen, said: “Northern Ireland Screen is constantly seeking partnerships which provide an outlet for developing and promoting local talent, so we’re delighted to partner with Sony and Stellify on this exciting new initiative. We can’t wait to see what projects are submitted.”

The deadline for submissions will be 17:00hrs (GMT) on 15th January 2021. Entrants must have been born in or be a current resident of Northern Ireland or the Republic of Ireland.

A full on-line briefing will take place at 4pm on Tuesday 15th December 2020 – if you wish to attend register here https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_EIT60KeuSOy5KvR4pL3BpQ.
