Broadcaster, entrepreneur and endurance athlete Spencer Matthews is working exclusively with Whisper to produce a documentary series covering his next epic challenge – Seven in Seven (WT).
Earlier this year, Matthews’ ‘30 in 30’ Great Desert Challenge saw him become a Guinness World Record holder for successfully running 30 marathons in 30 days on sand in the Jordanian desert.
For his next World Record Breaking Challenge, Seven in Seven (WT), he will attempt to complete seven full Ironman distance triathlons in each of the seven continents around the world, as quickly as possible.
Each triathlon will see him complete a 3.8km swim, 180km bike ride and a full 42.2km marathon – in each of the seven continents, finishing with the hardest one of them all, in Antarctica.
Only one person has ever achieved this in history, and it took him just under four years. Matthews will try to do so in under four weeks.
Whisper is working alongside Matthews to develop and deliver a documentary series to accompany his epic challenge.
Spencer Matthews said: “This is without a doubt, the most mentally draining, physically demanding, and most dangerous challenge I’ve ever undertaken and will push me to my breaking point.
“Running 30 consecutive marathons earlier this year opened my eyes to what the human mind and body is capable of. Despite the gruelling conditions, I fell even more in love with running. As soon as I crossed the finish line, I was itching for the next challenge.
“This is without doubt ambitious – but what I have discovered is a love of pushing myself, and of achieving what would have previously been unachievable to me.
“I know that I’ve bitten off a lot here but the countdown starts now and I’m thrilled to be working with the team at Whisper to capture every second of what I hope viewers will find to be an exhilarating journey.”
Matt Wilkinson, Executive Producer at Whisper said: “Earlier this year, Spencer astonished people around the world with his incredible feat of sports prowess and endurance as he completed what we all thought was impossible”.
“This new challenge takes that endurance to another level and the seemingly impossible. Everyone was mesmerised by The Great Desert Challenge – and in doing this, Spencer will have everyone transfixed once again.”
