Si King is to celebrate the life of fellow Hairy Biker and best friend Dave Myers in a special one-off BBC documentary produced by South Shore.

During the programme, he will pick out the key moments of the past 25 years of Dave and Si’s TV careers. It follows the 45,000 bikes that joined Si on a memorial journey from London to Dave’s hometown of Barrow-in-Furness in April this year.

Archive, new interviews and previously unseen footage help celebrate Dave’s life, “charting a journey that took him around the world, cooking up a storm as one of television’s greatest ever double acts.”

Si says: “It was a very special show to pull together. Full of nostalgia, laughs and celebration of my best friend and his life.”

Catherine Catton, Head of Commissioning, Factual Entertainment and Events, says: “Dave and Si hold a very special place in the Nation’s heart, and this emotional film pays tribute to an extraordinary friendship.”

Andrew Mackenzie, South Shore Executive Producer, says: “The outpouring of love for The Hairy Bikers this year has been extraordinary and it was a real honour for everyone who has worked with them to document Dave Day and celebrate Si and Dave’s friendship over the past two decades.”

The Hairy Bikers: You’ll Never Ride Alone has been produced for BBC Two by South Shore. It was commissioned by Catherine Catton, Head of Commissioning, Factual Entertainment and Events. The Commissioning Editor is Jasmyn McGuile. Executive Producers are Andrew Mackenzie and Melanie Leach.

The one-off hour-long special is due to air next month just before Christmas.
