Oscar winning sound design studio Wave – which won an Oscar for its work on Zone of Interest – has closed its Soho office.

Established in London in 1999, Wave Studios has been a leader in global audio post production, sound design and mixing. Its team of sound engineers include Johnnie Burn and Aaron Reynolds; Warren Lloyd-Hamilton is founder and group ceo, with studios in London, New York, and working alongside SixtyFour music. The New York office remains open.

Warren Lloyd-Hamilton says: “Sadly, after many years at the top of the tree it seems the burdens of today’s life and working practices have finally got the best of Wave London. Whilst Johnnie and I look to relaunch the London brand at some point to back up the always impressive New York office with Aaron Reynolds, we can at least enjoy our many successes over the years. The numerous awards, Pencils, Arrows, Fellowships and of course, The Oscar.

“Sadly, we can’t make the books balance for our premises in Great Pulteney Street any more and will be closing the London office forthwith. It doesn’t make sense any more. Alas. There are many reasons for this and if anyone wants to talk further then of course, I’ll be happy to if you want to call me up. We will come back fighting at some point, you can be assured of that. In the meantime I will say that the past 27 years has been a hoot. Loads of stories, loads of legends and loads of laughs.”
